Many cryptocurrency exchanges, in partnership with a payment processor (Visa/Mastercard), offer debit cards that are linked to a customer’s crypto wallet. When a POS transaction occurs, crypto in the user’s account is converted to fiat currency and routed through the payment processor’s existing network. The payment processors that facilitate these transactions do not interact with the underlying decentralized cryptocurrency networks and are not decentralized themselves.
