WOLK is a wearable belt which detects a fall when it starts and inflates an airbag around the hips, protecting them against breaking. It is designed in a fashionable way to tend to the large B2C market.

Hip fractures happen to 1.5M elderly people worldwide. 1 hip fracture in the Netherlands costs €40k. 1 in 4 die within the following year and 2 in 4 never regain the same mobility.
Also, frail elderly are often frightened by the risk of falling and therefore reduce their movements - they sit on the couch, often isolated. This speeds up the ageing process and vitality is out the window.
