Urban transportation problems of congestion, pollution and accidents are even worse in third world countries where poor people lack mobility and must often travel in vehicles operated by criminals. Many city governments have let the road infrastructure crumble and can no longer provide good quality public transportation. Our solution to this problem is a driverless system that uses its own elevated guideway infrastructure taking traffic off the roads. We provide quick, reliable and safe public transportation that makes a profit from farebox revenues.

Our innovation is to leverage existing driverless guideway-based transit technology (automated transit networks - ATN) that has thus far been confined to campus-sized applications and apply it to large networked urban applications. ATN has stations that are offline (on sidings). It also uses small electric vehicles so each vehicle does not need to enter each station and can bypass unwanted stations – resulting in express service for all. Furthermore, any station can be accessed from any other with no need to transfer. Finally, this technology is laid out in a series of interconnected loops covering the entire community and not just being concentrated in corridors. In this way over 95% of people in the service area live and work within five minutes of a station.

Our ATN system will have speeds up to 60 mph and capacity up to 20,000 passengers per hour per direction. Waiting times will be short. Premium fares will cover nonstop trips. Economy fares (like bus fares) will cover express trips. Ridesharing strategies promote high occupancies resulting in low operating costs. Solar panels on guideways and stations provide renewable propulsion energy.
