We started TaxProper to improve one of the most frustrating parts of owning property: property taxes. Every year local governments attempt to value all of the real estate in their jurisdiction to determine what everyone owes in property taxes. However, governments frequently overvalue property, requiring property owners to pay more than their fair share. We built TaxProper to make appealing assessments, that is, making sure property owners pay their fair share, easy and pain free. In building TaxProper, we realized there are dozens of other areas as painful as the property tax system that intersect with property ownership — from optimizing the fixed costs associated with real estate ownership, to making sure land information is recorded correctly. Internally, we refer to these issues as the plumbing system of real estate and our long term opportunity. So there you have it. We're working on building the plumbing system of real estate, starting with property taxes. TaxProper was part of Y Combinator's Summer 2019 batch, and raised more than $2M from an outstanding group of investors, including Khosla Ventures, Global Founders Capital, Clocktower Ventures, and more.
