Project Airwave is developing a blockchain protocol for the telecommunications industry.

Telecommunications networks are increasingly facing limitations in coverage and capacity, while the costs of deployment are escalating. Current LTE and upcoming 5G networks require an ever-increasing density of access points to keep up with bandwidth requirements and growing number of devices, while every single cell still needs location scouting, contract negotiation, leasing of sites, maintenance, etc.

Project Airwave aims to decentralise the deployment of cells through a bandwidth marketplace, enabling hyper-dense HetNets.
