At Starling Medical, we are developing a tech-enabled urinary catheter for patients with neurogenic bladder dysfunction that have lost the ability to tell when they need to use the bathroom or control their bladder's urinary cycles. Our device, The UrinControl System, is designed to reduce the number of monthly catheter insertions for these patients from the current standard of care of ~180 to 1. The system allows for the normal use of a toilet, lowering of a patient's UTI rates, and the real time detection of UTI's with their smartphone and an app. Due to the chronic nature of the disease, we are tapping into an annually recurring $15B target market that is reimbursable under existing coding methods.
