We are a group of tech professionals early in our respective careers who are interested in working together on a fun and collaborative project to produce a real application that might help showcase our skills to future employers or give our current employers a reason to give us a promotion. Our long-term goal is to create an organization that provides young professionals with outer-space curiosity a platform upon which to build meaningful projects with diverse teams; an organization that values diversity and belonging as a starting point rather than an afterthought, and one that can offer paid internships and fellowships and paid positions at market rates to those professionals with a transparent and equitable compensation policy. Our “Big Hairy Audacious Goal” is to create a platform that acts as an incubator for young professionals with an interest in outer space projects. We will then use this platform as a base to gather donations that will fund our organization. We will then create an annual giving campaign devoted to financing Internships and Fellowships for Women in Science and Engineering, to making meaningful scholarship awards to non-traditional students who are returning to school after taking time off to start a family or pursue other interests, and meaningful student loan debt relief to former students whose oldest loans are at least ten years old. While we currently have no funding, we are in the process of filing our paperwork to incorporate as a Not for Profit Organization and hope to seek funding as soon as possible.
