SomaDetect is an agricultural technology company that is connecting dairy farmers with the milk-quality indicators most relevant to manage their production. SomaDetect’s novel, optical technology allows for in-line measurements of critical dairy-quality indicators (fat content and somatic cells) from individual cows, enabling farmers to identify problems early and maximize profitability. SomaDetect will sell two products to dairy farmers: (1) a one-time purchase of sensor equipment and (2) monthly reporting and analytics services. In North America, the dairy system is composed of 10.8 M dairy cows, 55 thousand dairy farms, and 450 major milk processors. More than $1.5 B of profit is lost due to the gap in knowledge and problems arising from the lack of data. SomaDetect is here to close that gap, and to provide better data for farmers, better milk for consumers, and better lives for cows.
