Join BenchSci for a 4-month contract internship and contribute directly to our mission of
accelerating drug discovery.

• Develop and ship new features and bug fixes within a cross-functional team of data engineers, PMs, and AI scientists.
• Collaborate closely with your immediate team (3–5 engineers) on technical investigations, solution designs, and high-quality code implementation.

• Collaborate with Machine Learning, Full-stack engineers and Science to solve complex document mining challenges, helping us capture and model additional scientific experiments
• Scale data pipelines to allow our data to go from research to platform quickly and reliably

• Analize and manipulate a large, highly connected biological knowledge graph constructed of data from multiple heterogeneous sources, to identify data enrichment opportunities and strategies.
• Work with data and knowledge engineering experts to design and develop knowledge enrichment approaches/strategies that can exploit data within our knowledge graph.

• Drive Infrastructure-as-Code: Design, provision, and maintain cloud-native infrastructure using Terraform and Kubernetes.
• Modernize Identity Infrastructure: Architect a modular Terraform-based system for Auth0 and refactor environment-specific secret management.

• Design and maintain infrastructure supporting our core platform and environments in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Help create reliable, secure, performant, scalable, and high throughput services for our end-users and other engineers within the company

• Implement new features and bug fixes as part of a larger cross-functional team of data engineers, product managers, designers, and scientists
• Work within your immediate team of 4-6 full-stack engineers to do technical investigations, solution designs, code implementation with automated tests, and code reviews

• Build and deploy machine learning models over omics data (e.g. genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, epigenomics, and multi-omics), capturing biological structure, variability, and experimental context.

• Develop strategy and roadmap for data retrieval and evaluation, including further innovation and optimization of existing capabilities and tooling
• Drive execution as part of a cross-functional team focused on this particular product including Design, Engineering, Science, Data, and Project Management

• Deliver design solutions for projects of medium-sized scope and complexity, working largely independently.
• Deliver designs for all stages of product development as needed (user flows, wireframes, mockups, AI-generated and interactive prototypes, handover specifications, journey maps) that meet or exceed user needs and have a sense of craftsmanship.

• Manage a Hybrid Inference Roadmap: Develop and execute a strategy for core prediction models that serves two distinct goals: ○ Direct productization into our core platform for the most high-usage use case, and ○ Tech-enabled-Service for internal teams to deliver bespoke predictions to customers. You will ruthlessly prioritize to ensure the core inference engine evolves to support both, while minimizing forking.
