Typical search indexes are not designed for frequent data updates like counter increments, field changes, deletions, etc. They work well for search because they trade the key characteristics that separate them from databases to make them fast and reliable for searching. We don't feel that is a necessary compromise in today's world, particularly with the advantages that come with real-time indexes.
