A wide gap exists between what is taught at Architecture colleges and what the this industry expects from Architects. Students find themselves ill-equipped to showcase resumes and portfolios which catch the attention of potential employers. Students from non-ivy league colleges don’t get the right career guidance either. This leads to Architects making poor career choices, and a low earning potential. Freelancing is a popular form of employment in architecture - nearly 55% of registered Architects are self-employed. But this comes with its own challenges - the reach of an architect is typically limited to the physical location he’s based in. New opportunities to find work are scanty and/or unsatisfactory.
