PlanUp is a mobile utility that makes it easier for people to gather. Whether it’s a big night out, Sunday brunch, picnic in the park, or even a cozy dinner among friends at home, PlanUp makes coordination before and during the event simple. Such is made possible through invites, RSVPs, as well as instant messaging and location sharing among the participants. It’s an ad-hoc social group that forms around the event and is only active for the duration of the event. Afterwards, it provides a view of what you’ve done and who you’ve spent time with via private photo sharing, an augmented contact list, and easy group re-creation.

PlanUp also offers real-time venue ratings, as well as a learning preference graphing algorithm that works to match users with optimal social venues and events. Real-time recommendations are still in beta as we work to design our interface to unobtrusively solicit and collect the anonymized ratings that will power the recommendation engine.
