Wildfires present a global challenge, impacting lives, property, and economies both near and far from their origins. With climate change, the threat of catastrophic wildfires is expected to worsen, as increasingly arid conditions and the release of carbon emissions from burning vegetation continue to fuel a vicious cycle of rising global temperatures and wildfire occurrence. Governments, financial institutions, and society as a whole are currently ill-equipped to address these challenges. At the heart of the issue lies the inadequacy of existing technologies to accurately predict wildfire behaviour and assess wildfire risk. Current solutions are either too slow and costly to be practical or are based on outdated science and data, rendering them ineffective in the face of urbanisation and climate change.
