It’s about Time!! ‘It’s about Time’ is our tagline for a few reasons. For one, we feel it really is about time we address the motherhood penalty. Researchers have estimated a wage penalty for mothers of 4 percent earnings per child, while fathers see a 6 percent increase per child. The reasons for this are complex, but a major contributing factor based on the stats is that much of the domestic workload defaults to women, which can impact their ability to fully invest in their career. ‘It’s about Time’ also references our north star. Time. Our product decisions will be made with a simple question in mind “‘Will this solution deliver TIME back?” Why am I so committed to helping solve this challenge? When I was returning from leave after my 2nd child in Feb 2022, I hit some sort of tipping point. The volume of domestic labor suddenly doubled, much of it invisible/mental load labor that was challenging to articulate, let alone delegate. As I attempted to ramp back into my leadership role at work, while juggling new home demands, I felt miserable. I felt like a failure. I felt…so tired. I also knew that I couldn’t be alone. I’ve spent the last 5 months speaking with other leaders, and often with tears in their eyes, they would describe that they too weren’t sure they could keep juggling it all. They needed acknowledgement, they needed more support (from their partners, from their employers), and they needed practical, easy, day to day outsourcing help to get things off their plate. So we built just that! So far the reception has been nothing short of incredible, and we are in need of a CTO to take us from MVP to a scalable platform.
