The openPetition team has come together in the spirit of justice. We want to support and encourage all people to speak out and take part in forming our society. We do this by providing the tools and processes needed to gain the power to be heard. Our mission is to make democracy stronger by better balancing the power between representatives and represented people. Our vision is a society where citizens can be involved in the decision-making process of policy making at any time. In a modern democratic society, all citizens who are affected by a certain policy regulation must have a chance to get involved before decisions are made. When things go wrong and incorrect regulations are being adopted, they have to have a chance to intervene. Our purpose is to establish the equal right for everybody to raise attention on urgent issues and to have an open and inclusive deliberation about those issues. We, as an NGO, demand more participatory rights for citizens in a representative democracy. We work together with allies and challenge our arguments with our adversaries from the representative system. We look out for structural change top down and if not successful we will go on with cultural change bottom up. We can see benefit in direct instruments of democracy, when there is a mandatory deliberation to it. We live our democratic values in our own company. We are radically transparent. We have our view of democracy reflected in our flat hierarchy, where only the founders radicalisation of democracy is the only that thing can't be questioned. Everything can be challenged at any time. We have a lean salary policy. We like to enjoy the time at work as much as pursuing the goals of openPetition. We dont use an Applicant tracking system,we still hire people personally.
