NU-RISE developed the first in-vivo and real-time dosimetry solution for breast and prostate brachytherapy thus opening the possibility for next generation of smart treatment planning software with real-time dose correction and automated treatment planning reducing treatment errors and planning time by 75%.
Currently, high-dose-rate brachytherapy is performed without proper treatment validation procedures, this means that there is no way to measure in-situ the dose being delivered to the tumor and the surrounding healthy tissues and organs. So, the dose can be lower than planned and the cancer is not killed or higher doses can be delivered to healthy tissues and sensitive organs which will lead to secondary effects to the patient.
NU-RISE solution for real-time dose monitoring and dose correction in breast and prostate HDR brachytherapy comprehends three main components: disposable probes, dosimeter readout unit and software for treatment planning and real-time dose correction.
