Culture overview

NearSt is a collaborative place, which means we work together and no one gets left behind. We value positive, open communication and diversity of thought. We get to the best outcomes when everyone can freely express their ideas and feel comfortable challenging others, all while having a good time. Our team of 20-ish people come from all sorts of backgrounds. We actively work to debias our hiring process by not asking for CVs, and instead invite potential future-NearSt-ers to respond to several questions which are then anonymously reviewed by our team. It’s probably why half of our engineering team today are career-switchers. We’re a hybrid company, where each team sets their own frequency for coming into the office depending on what helps them do their best work. When you do come to our Shoreditch HQ at Work.Life Old Street, you’ll find music, food, the occasional doggo, a rather impressive coffee machine (essential!), and a team who eat lunch together on most days. We think growth is important, and have a structured progression framework for growing people down an individual contributor or people manager path, all backed by a £1,000 per person yearly learning and development budget. Most of all we believe people do their best work when they trust and enjoy working with one another, so we do everything we can to foster that culture.
