As the national industry association for Canada’s Angel investor community, NACO has been working to since 2002, to professionalize Angel investment in Canada and evolve it into a new asset class of investment that can support entrepreneurial Canadians as they scale up good, nascent ideas into thriving businesses. We accomplish this goal by bringing together a national, broad based, community of Angel investors and connecting them to their peers in the early-stage funding ecosystem. These connections facilitate the sharing of information, ideas, networks, best practices and investments, in order to reduce risk and improve outcomes. We further support ongoing member professional development through engaging events, as well as our research, education, and public policy initiatives. Today, NACO supports more than 2,800 Angel investors and more than 41 Angel networks across Canada. This role gives NACO a unique perspective on the fast and profound changes happening, not only in Canada but globally, and some ideas on how we may respond to improve Canadian investor and entrepreneur success. NACO believes that Canada’s economic future is dependent on the success of our most innovative, small and medium enterprises. However, these startups depend on the availability of a robust and knowledgeable investor community as they grow along the innovation continuum from an idea, into a scalable and globally competitive business.
