From Jennifer Parker – Former Career Advisor at Edison Learning 'Our students are typically reluctant learners and need a great deal of support academically and in looking ahead to postsecondary planning and options. They seemed to find MyVerse interesting and staff did as well. It would be my recommendation to our MJBAs that this assessment be used during student orientation to begin engaging students in discussions about their future; I think the program would help students to make connections from time of enrollment to the work that they do daily in reaching their goals. Our pilot indicated a recommendation be made by my team to promote its use from the start of next school year as a future planning tool rather than just a matching tool.' I have worked as a counselor for twenty years and know that students need guidance and direction when making future decisions. MyVerse has the tools and resources to reach teenagers not only in their post-secondary decisions and career choices, but in assisting their mental health. I know that MyVerse will serve educators in reaching students in a clear and precise way. One of the challenges in reaching staff and youth is having a user friendly and interactive site. MyVerse has addressed these challenges and once implemented, I believe it will be one of the best investments for the 21st century educators.
