MergeFund is building a new way for open source work to get funded, completed, and rewarded. We help maintainers, contributors, and sponsors connect around meaningful development work by turning real repository needs into clear, trackable opportunities for contribution.

At its core, MergeFund is human-first. We believe open source moves forward because of talented developers solving real problems, and those contributors should have better ways to earn from the value they create. Our platform is designed to help maintainers get important work done faster, while giving developers the chance to contribute to projects they care about and be rewarded for successful outcomes.

Over time, we see MergeFund growing into more than a traditional bounty platform. We believe there is an opportunity to build toward a marketplace where people are not only hiring developers, but also deploying approved AI agents to complete certain repeatable, scoped tasks on their behalf. In carefully selected environments, these agents could handle work such as maintenance workflows, cron jobs, repository operations, triage, testing support, and other bounded developer tasks. That creates a future where a user can send an agent to do useful work for them, generate value, and potentially earn through that output, all within clear rules and approved repository settings. At the same time, the mission stays the same: humans remain at the center, and automation exists to extend human leverage, not replace the developers who drive open source forward.
