The alternative protein market is white-hot, and insect protein is growing at an extraordinary rate in the USA and Canada. Currently, major players in insect protein powders are struggling to keep up with demand, often out of stock.

Not only is the supply unreliable, the quality of the protein is dubious, often completely sourced, or mixed, with cricket powders from Southeast Asia. Many companies publish misleading claims on the sustainability and nutrition of their proteins.

Affecting both businesses and consumers, insect protein is being sold at a premium. On average, a pound insect protein is retailing at $45 and wholesaling at $36. That’s more expensive than filet mignon.

At Manna, we've developed an insect protein that is more sustainable, nutritious, and cheap to produce than other insect proteins. It has equivalent Branch Chain Amino Acids as Salmon and is more sustainable than soy. Co-founders Luke, Eli, and Kyle are bringing Manna to the market in 2020.
