Jobs at Learning Tapestry
We solve hard problems for our partners, in complex education technology environments. We’re also a triple bottom line company: we make a profit like any successful business; our work makes the world better (“social impact”); and we create a healthy internal work environment for everyone who works here. We believe in flexible work locations and working arrangements for all our staff. We empower all team members to manage their schedules, take responsibility for their work, and adjust things as necessary. We look out for each other too. We're focused on results and impact, not locations and hours. We hire people with great technical ability, but we also expect everyone at Learning Tapestry to have a strong character, internal drive, and solid communication skills. Our projects come in a lot of different types. We’ve served as the outsourced product management and engineering team for EdTech startups as well as major universities; we’ve built unique, open source publishing tools to help advance the adoption of Open Educational Resources, and we’ve built data interoperability tools to help school districts become more efficient and effective in reporting data to state and federal agencies. We consult with major philanthropic organizations from time-to-time, helping them with hard technology strategy and implementation projects. Sometimes we define the problem, and advance the vision with partners. We’re a 100% virtual company, and we’ve built ourselves up from the ground to be effective in this model. There are trade-offs like anything, but the flexibility provided by virtual work makes it work for us. We also like not having to fly around the country all the time. The goal here is to solve problems in the education industry because the industry can improve greatly in ways that will help teachers and students. We put the customer first, but we don’t suppress our expertise: if we see a better way, we work with our clients to see it too.
