Jeweliet is “Alibaba for fine jewelry”. We work with jewelry wholesalers and manufacturers to import and digitize their inventory onto our platform, and we let buyers browse and search inventory across multiple suppliers at once. The plan is to build the world’s largest database of real-time jewelry inventory. Right now, the jewelry industry runs on the movement of physical inventory, which is hugely expensive, slow, and inefficient. Sellers spend hundreds of millions of dollars on logistical costs exhibiting their inventory at jewelry shows and billions of dollars are tied up in inventory sitting in warehouses or retail stores. Jeweliet indexes all jewelry inventories and makes items viewable and searchable by anyone in the world. Multiple buyers can browse the same item, and only after interest has been expressed does the item have to physically move. We believe this improvement is akin to going from a “single-threaded” process to a “multi-threaded” process. The speed that a buyer can be found for any piece of jewelry is improved dramatically and the ability for a buyer to find the perfect item is just one search away. Since our private beta in June 2017, we have 122 companies and 193 users browsing and searching our database of 33,477 items (worth $250M+ retail).
