60% of long-term wheelchair patients in the United States will develop one pressure ulcer, and 40% will develop multiple. Pressure ulcers are notoriously difficult to treat: ultimately, pressure ulcers take the lives of 60,000 Americans each year. In response to this problem, HiPR is building a smart wheelchair cushion system.
