We also believe that the vast majority of companies lack the data and expertise necessary to achieve that on their own. Gush will be the engine that powers deep personalization across the internet, as the dominant global provider of B2B personalization-as-a-service.
To accumulate the data, algorithms, and expertise necessary to achieve our vision, we've begun with a consumer-facing leisure discovery app. Gush is the best way to find things to do in NYC, no matter what you're into. We help you find the best stuff going on around the city, tailored to your unique tastes: concerts, movies, food, nightlife, art... Whatever you’re in the mood for, it’s on Gush.
Lots of apps and websites have tried help users find fun things to do, but none managed to become a truly reliable one-stop-shop at scale. Our key differentiator is our personalization technology, which was designed specifically to overcome a number of the most challenging problems in recommendation science: the cold start problem; very sparse data; decision support; recommendation explicability; plus some other major flaws in common approaches like matrix factorization and nearest-neighbor models that aren't yet mentioned in the academic literature. Users teach our AI about their preferences through a fun, highly visual Q&A process that is actually a proactive source of engagement among our user base, rather than a hurdle we have to push them over.
