Gelatex Technologies develops an organic leatherlike eco-textile Gelatex that does not only look but also feels like leather.

There´s about 2 billion m² of leather produced annually worldwide. Producing only 1 m² of leather uses about 2.5 kg of toxic chemicals causing serious health risks and pollution. All eco-friendly alternatives are too expensive or hard to produce in big quantities.

Gelatex is a non-vowen textile that is produced of gelatin that is made of low value waste of meat industries. So besides skin we can make leatherlike textile from bones also, enabling to get up to 3 times more material from the same animal. The properties of the material (thickness, texture, water resistance) are customizable during manufacturing process. The material comes on rolls meaning therefore also faster cutting and 15-20% less material waste.

Gelatex is the only eco-friendly leatherlike material that feels like leather, is easy to produce in big quantities and cheaper than real leather.
