As a member of the FinTech Portfolio you are given the keys to a new or existing FinTech business and equity into a pool of companies across various stages of the venture development lifecycle to perfectly match your lifestyle and risk tolerance. You are an owner from day one. Unlike many startups where you can only be successful if that one product and team makes it, at the FinTech Portfolio, we believe that it makes sense to diversify and increase our chances of success by contributing and earning equity in a pool of companies which can be high-tech growth startups or services businesses that act as 'cash cows' to simply pay the bills and help us afford our dreams. Each company is a separate entity that is of course open for funding. The goal of the Co-Op is to ramp up each company quickly, get to revenue and/or significant traction to raise capital on the best terms possible from traditional (VCs, Strategic Investors, Financial Institutions) and non-traditional sources (crowdfunding). We also believe that smart and curious people can't be labeled or pigeon-holed for too long so we all strive for gaining breadth and depth of experience across the various portfolio companies. This also creates symbiotic relationships and efficiencies since we are able to scale many more projects by leveraging the same resources. For example, how many CXOs would you really need for 3 early stage companies while those products are getting built by Engineering? We are 100% focused on all things FinTech and building a self-sustaining ecosystem of companies that can, for example: 1) provide access to working capital to 28MM SMEs by turning customers into investors 2) create a coalition to train startups and incumbents as the FinTech industry grows 3) serve underbanked communities by democratizing, demystifying and disrupting traditional business models.
