To accomplish that, we have to have exceptional hiring standards. We want to make sure we’re all aligned on what we want the technology organization to look like. Challenge People - Push people to grow and do things outside their comfort zone by providing them with challenging and interesting problems to solve. We must constantly evolve, complacency is death. Hire the Best - Hire people who thrive in challenging environments and are always striving to improve. Don’t lower your bar to meet hiring goals. Encourage Collaboration and Initiative - When you foster a culture where your team members take ownership, you create an environment that empowers them to pursue their own ideas and produce results. Work-life Balance - Worry about getting your work done and accomplishing goals not about how many hours you spend in front of your desk. Diversity - The clash of opposing views are important so that through consultation we can find solutions that are better than our own. It’s like combining different metals to create a superior alloy, the result is greater than the sum of its parts.
