The Ed-Fi exists to make a difference for millions of students…one teacher, one class, one child at a time through an effort to transform data into insights that make it easier for teachers to teach, for students to learn and for schools to succeed. The Ed-Fi, LLC, is dedicated to empowering educators with real-time, actionable education data on every student in their classrooms, schools, districts or states. The organization provides and continually updates the Ed-Fi data standard and implementation suite, a flexible tool suite of technology components designed to unify and organize raw education data and information from a broad range of existing disparate data sources so it can be integrated, analyzed and put to use every day. Through the free-to-license, easy-to-use components, Ed-Fi technology enables school districts and state education agencies to consolidate vital academic information on K-12 students from the different data systems in use while leaving all the management and governance of data in the hands of agency officials. Since the initial release of Ed-Fi technology in July 2011, education agencies representing more than 50% of all US public education students, districts and teachers have licensed and are implementing components of the suite that meet their educators’ priorities and needs. The Ed-Fi works to ensure continued widespread adoption of key elements of the Ed-Fi technology across the United States through technology development, governance and market building activities. Ed-Fi also governs the Ed-Fi data standard in collaboration with an Advisory Council of state, regional and local education agency representatives.
