Alongside our client work we also run a ventures division where we launch new companies in joint ventures with some of our clients. In these our staff all have an ownership. Dovetail is like a part services company, part incubator, where everyone has a stake. We have offices in Sydney and Auckland, but also allow our team to be remote, so long as everyone is based in New Zealand or Australia. Our biggest focus is on hiring talent, and experience - tending to work in smaller teams of top talent. It's both more fun and more efficient. Most of our work is in Ruby on Rails, React and React Native, but we're not married to any particular technology. We've managed to build a great team of talented people, and we're focusing strongly on building the right culture rather than growth at any cost. We go on company working retreats to places like Costa Rica, where we both worked on new projects and surfed ourselves silly. We do these kinds of retreats a few times a year, and they’re a ridiculously good time.
