It originally started as the GHash.IO mining pool, which successfully mined over 583,000 bitcoins. After nearly reaching 51% of Bitcoin's mining power, the platform voluntarily reduced its mining capacity to prevent a potential 51% attack and shifted its focus to trading. 


Since then, CEX.IO has evolved into a comprehensive platform with more than 15 million registered users. 
It offers a wide range of services for buying, storing, sending, trading, and selling digital assets.
CEX.IO was the first exchange to allow crypto purchases via credit card and has consistently led the way in innovation, while maintaining an impeccable 12-year record of security and regulatory compliance. 


The platform holds 40 global licenses and registrations, including 37 MLT licenses in the U.S., a license in Spain, and registration in Lithuania, as well as FINCEN registration.
