We are a small group of scientists and engineers working on an open-source cryptocurrency exchange. The reason why we want to open-source the exchange is to allow cheaper price discovery of an asset, for example, cryptocurrency and fiat, commodities, equity, and fixed income. Imagine the possibility that anyone could spawn an exchange with a bash script in 2 minutes. Building a crypto spot and derivative exchange now is like building a bank in the 1915s. You don't know yet that the US dollar will be the reserve currency. Eventually, it did and thus allowed US banks to monopolize various financial transactions that we conduct every day.
