Jobs at Beamlink

Right now, about 50% of the global population is disconnected from the Internet, and there's a huge gender gap there too. 60% of men globally use the Internet, but only 40% of women do. Until both the overall access gap and the gender gap are addressed, other inequities will only become harder to address since our global society keeps moving towards technologically enabled solutions. A very pressing example of this shows up after natural disasters. Whether a Caribbean hurricane, California wildfire, or a Japanese earthquake, disasters almost always wipe out most existing communications infrastructure. The solution? Satellite phones and walkie talkies. NGOs and other first responders struggle to communicate with one another, survivors can't get essential information about aid resources and response, and carriers take months to repair their networks since they don't have the right technologies to do it quickly. There's a better way though. We're starting by addressing disaster zone communications, and planning to adapt that solution to the last mile in general. Come join an awesome team of social entrepreneurs and engineers, and work on the forefront of one of the most pressing current social issues faced by the entire planet. We may not have kombucha on tap or an entire fridge full of harmless harvest coconut water, but we're backed by the National Science Foundation and have received significant awards and recognition from Cisco, Mozilla, and the University of Southern California. We're also not maniacal evil managers -- we have PTO, 401k, the usual stuff, and more!
