• Develop embedded and real-time software for flight and ground hardware: device drivers, board support, FPGA register interfaces (AXI/memory-mapped), and control applications.

• This is a broad, in-person role spanning executive support, purchasing, travel, office organization, team logistics, recruiting coordination, and basic people operations. You will become the person the team relies on to solve practical problems quickly, coordinate the details behind important work, and make sure nothing gets lost between people, vendors, systems, and deadlines.

• Implement networking software for the ground segment: link management, framing/ARQ logic, data ingest pipelines, store-and-forward services, and customer delivery APIs.
• Build the pass scheduling and orchestration services that coordinate satellites, ground stations, and weather data in near-real time.

• Assemble precision optomechanical hardware: optical benches, telescope assemblies, fiber routing, FSM and gimbal subassemblies, and structural elements.
• Perform optical alignment using autocollimators, interferometers, alignment lasers, and CMM/metrology equipment, following documented procedures.

• Assemble, modify, and rework electronic hardware to aerospace standards: soldering (including fine-pitch SMT), cable and harness fabrication, and connector assembly.
• Integrate and handle sensitive optical detectors (APDs, SPADs, PIN photodiodes, cameras and focal planes; potentially cryogenic detectors), including bias-up and safe-handling procedures.

• Design and simulate integrated photonic components and circuits: waveguides, couplers, 90° hybrids, MZI modulators, phase shifters, photodetector interfaces, and on-chip filters.
• Own foundry tape-outs on silicon photonics, SiN, or InP platforms, including DRC, layout, and process design kit (PDK) workflows.

• Architect the end-to-end network: space-to-ground optical links, inter-site terrestrial backhaul, network operations center (NOC) integration, and customer data delivery.
• Define protocol stacks for optical links operating over fading atmospheric channels, including framing, FEC/interleaving strategy at the network layer, ARQ, and delay/disruption-tolerant networking (DTN) where appropriate.

• Architect and implement end-to-end automation for ground station operations: target acquisition, pass execution, weather-driven decision-making, and safe-state recovery.
• Develop hardware control software for telescopes, gimbals, weather sensors, and optical bench instrumentation (motion controllers, cameras, power systems).

• Design optomechanical assemblies for beam steering: gimbals, fast-steering mirrors (FSMs), telescope mounts, relay optics, and fiber-coupling stages.
• Perform structural, thermal, and STOP (structural-thermal-optical performance) analysis to verify line-of-sight stability and wavefront error budgets.

• Lead optical, electrical, and mechanical integration into compact, manufacturable terminals.
• Own full system architecture, working with electrical and mechanical engineers to hit size, performance, and producibility targets.
