The culture at AssemblyAI is super collaborative, low-ego, transparent, and fast-paced. We want to win - and have a flat organization where everyone can openly share ideas (regardless of their title or position) in order to get the best idea. We think being able to recharge, get perspective, and unplug is super important. Even though we’re a startup, there’s no expectation to be plugged in and working non-stop. Rather, we view things as a rubber band - sometimes there will be weeks where everyone is working very hard and long hours towards a big goal, product launch, etc - but other weeks will be less intense/busy, and we encourage our team members to take breaks during these less busy periods. As a remote company, our team members are given a lot of trust and autonomy to work where and how they want. We look for people to join our team who are ambitious, curious, and self-motivated, and we put a lot of trust and autonomy into everyone on our team. We want to empower everyone to do their best work with whatever tools, structures, or resources they need to perform at their highest potential! We also know how important it is to build trust within our team and foster a collaborative environment, which is why we have in-person team retreats a few times per year. Retreats allow employees to collaborate in person, and have fun getting to know the rest of the team in a holistic way. Our team retreats allow employees to feel closer to the overall mission & the impact their role has on the company's growth.
