We are operate as a small, agile team. Devs have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects at different levels of the stack and be able to take ownership of a specific project. Developers on our team get their hands dirty in everything from our front-end mobile and web tools for health care providers and administrators, to the backend services that power the data, to the infrastructure that supports it. We use a lot of open source technologies and in some cases roll our own, as necessary. We emphasize getting the product out to the client quickly with iterative improvements, while still using automated and manual user testing before each deploy to make sure our code is as bug free as possible. We have procedures and take the time to plan, but we are constantly adapting to new realities. Typically we will create a new feature by first going to the white board and sketching out the requirements and implementation details, then deciding who will tackle each piece before getting to work independently or in pairs. Our developers all work together in an open office space, making it easy to help each other in either answering quick questions or pairing to diagnose a nasty bug.
