About the job
πΌ Who we are πΌ
Flat is the online music editor offering the most intuitive experience to write, learn and share music. Founded in 2015 by 4 developers and music lovers under the company name Tutteo, we've been profitable and independent since 2017.
Today we serve 6M+ musicians (Flat), tens of thousands of schools (Flat for Education), and power embedded music notation across the web (Flat Embed). We're bootstrapped, profitable, and building for the long term.
π The Challenge π
We're looking for a Educational Content Manager to own how Tutteo creates, distributes, and implements content within Flat for Education.
This is a hands-on, teacher-first role that requires strong project managment skills. Flat for Education is used in tens of thousands of schools, and teachers increasingly ask us for more than a great notation tool: they want ready-to-teach lessons, standards-aligned sequences, and assessments they can trust. In Texas specifically, that means content built on the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) and assesments that fit local standards. You'll be the person who builds that content, gets it through the formal review processes, and makes sure it actually works in a real music classroom.
You'll draw on your own teaching experience to decide what a good lesson looks like, then design, write, and structure the resources yourself. You'll also lead the effort to reorganize our existing resource library so teachers can find what they need, and you'll be a bridge between our Customer Success Managers and the content: answering curriculum questions, joining calls with district leaders, and turning what you hear from teachers into new material.
You'll do this with real leverage: a product teachers already love, a Customer Success team talking to schools every day, and a founding team that wants to hand education content to someone who can take it further. You'll report to the Head of Sales & Customer success and work closely with Customer Success and Product.
π© What you'll own
Texas-aligned content: design and write TEKS-aligned lessons, units, and assessments for music education on Flat for Education, and own the TEKS alignment and submission process end to end.
Assesment creation: build and maintain the assignments that support teachers and districts participating in the assesment allotments in the USA.
The resource library: audit, restructure, and grow our existing teaching resources so they're organized by standard, grade band, and skill, and easy for a busy teacher to pick up and use.
Content projects from brief to delivery: scope the work, set timelines, coordinate with designers, Customer Success, and Product, and ship on schedule.
Teacher training and presentations: run webinars, record walkthroughs, and present at trainings and conferences so teachers know how to get the most out of the content and the product.
*Customer Success support:* be the curriculum expert our CSMs can lean on to support with trainings, onboardings, or other places where capacity is needed.
π What you need to be a good fit π
You've taught. You have 3+ years of real classroom teaching experience, in music and ideally in Texas, and you know what a lesson looks like when it lands and when it doesn't.
You've designed curriculum. You've written lesson plans, unit sequences, or full courses from scratch, aligned them to standards, and revised them based on what happened in the room. Familiarity with the TEKS, and with TIA, is a strong plus.
You have strong project management skills. You can take a large body of content, break it into a plan, hold yourself and others to deadlines, and keep several projects moving at once without dropping threads.
You're comfortable in front of other teachers. You've presented at PD days, led trainings, or run workshops, and you can explain a new tool or approach clearly to a room (or a Zoom) of educators.
You write clearly. Your instructions are easy to follow, your rubrics are unambiguous, and your emails to a district administrator read like they came from a peer.
You're comfortable with technology. You can learn a new platform quickly, you're at ease with Flat for Education (or will be fast), and you're curious about how software can make teaching easier.
You operate independently. You drive the highest-leverage work without being told what it is, close loops without being chased, and escalate a stuck item rather than repeating it for a month.
Full professional proficiency in English. You like music and believe the sheet music industry is ready for a change.
π‘ The Tutteo Approach π‘
- When big projects come along, we all pitch in. Doing the dirty work is what we thrive on.
- We value feedback, honesty, and transparency.
- We're open to failure. A growth bet that doesn't move the metric is a valid result; a fix that doesn't ship is a process failure, and we know the difference.
- As the company grows, so do we.
- Talent has no borders. We're remote-first, rooted in Europe.
πΆ Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $65,000 to $80,000, based on experience and seniority
- performance bonus tied to the growth targets of the company
- 100% remote, asynchronous, with no daily or weekly meeting overhead
- Health insurance, paid sick leave, generous paid time off
- Annual company retreats plus regular online gatherings
- Financial support to build your ideal work setup
The salary range is indicative. The actual gross offered is adjusted to your location and contract type so the package stays fair and competitive wherever you are.
π€ How to apply π€
Please begin your note with the words "Music for All" so we know you've read this far.
Then answer the following questions:
Which of the Texas 6th grade TEKS do you feel would be the most difficult to build/assess within a digital platform and why?
What is your experience with developing full curriculums within music educaiton.
