About the job
🎼 Who we are 🎼
Flat is the online music editor offering the most intuitive experience to write, learn and share music. Founded in 2015 by 4 developers and music lovers under the company name Tutteo, we've been profitable and independent since 2017.
Today we serve 6M+ musicians (Flat), tens of thousands of schools (Flat for Education), and power embedded music notation across the web (Flat Embed). We're bootstrapped, profitable, and building for the long term.
🚀 The Challenge 🚀
We're looking for a Head of Growth to own how Tutteo grows across all our products, measurably and repeatably.
This is a company-level role. You'll own and execute the global growth strategy spanning Flat (our consumer editor), Flat for Education (our teaching platform), and the ecosystem loops that connect them: a teacher brings students, a graduating student becomes a subscriber, a satellite-app user becomes a composer who stays. Each product has its own funnel and economics, and your job is to make them work as one machine.
This is a full-funnel, data-first role, not a brand or communications one. You'll set the growth thesis, decide which bets to run and in what order, design the experiments, read the data yourself, and scale what works while stopping what doesn't. You'll direct a small team to execute (content and SEO, education demand generation) rather than doing all the execution yourself.
You'll do this with real leverage: a governed data warehouse, a strong internal tooling stack, and a founding team that has run growth hands-on and wants to hand it to someone who can take it further. You'll report to the CEO and work closely with the CTO and Product.
🎩 What you'll own
- The company growth number, across Flat, Flat for Education, and Flat Embed.
- Cross-product strategy: where to invest across the three funnels, how to sequence bets, and how to build the ecosystem loops that connect them.
- Acquisition: SEO, ASO, content direction, localized growth (Japan, Korea and beyond), and answer-engine channels. You protect the top-of-funnel the whole company depends on.
- Activation, conversion and retention: onboarding, first-value moments, paywall logic, pricing, renewal cliffs, save flows, lifecycle.
- Experiment velocity: a real cadence of scored experiments, each with a hypothesis, a metric, a signal window, and a stop condition. You size tests properly before running them.
- The data and automation layer: exploit the warehouse and build the systems that let growth scale without a new hire for every task.
- A small team: set clear priorities, hold people to outcomes, and partner with Product on anything in-app.
🛠 What you need to be a good fit 🛠
- You're quantitative to the core. You read the funnel yourself, in SQL or the warehouse. You tell correlation from causation in your own analysis, spot a selection-bias trap, and size a bet before running it. You think in cohorts and orders of magnitude, not weekly wiggles.
- You have an engineering or strong technical/data background. You're comfortable with codebases, APIs, data pipelines, and automation as a real execution layer. You'd rather build a repeatable system than run a manual ritual.
- You've owned growth across more than one motion, a PLG/consumer funnel and a sales-assisted or B2B one, and you understand how they feed each other. Consumer subscription apps (iOS/Android) plus B2B, education or SaaS experience is ideal.
- You generate conviction, not just activity. Handed an open problem, you arrive with a thesis: the bet, the metric, what you'll stop doing to fund it. You own the outcome, not the task list.
- You operate without a net. You drive the highest-leverage work without being told what it is, close loops without being chased, and escalate a stuck item rather than repeating it for a month.
- You lead a small team well and get more out of them than a task list would.
- You have enough marketing judgment to direct content and tell a strong page and message from a weak one.
- Full professional proficiency in English. You like music and believe the sheet music industry is ready for a change.
🏡 The Tutteo Approach 🏡
- When big projects come along, we all pitch in. Doing the dirty work is what we thrive on.
- We value feedback, honesty, and transparency.
- We're open to failure. A growth bet that doesn't move the metric is a valid result; a fix that doesn't ship is a process failure, and we know the difference.
- As the company grows, so do we.
- Talent has no borders. We're remote-first, rooted in Europe.
💶 Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: €100,000 to €125,000, based on experience and seniority
- 10% performance bonus tied to the growth targets you own
- 100% remote, asynchronous, with no daily or weekly meeting overhead
- Health insurance, paid sick leave, generous paid time off
- Annual company retreats plus regular online gatherings
- Financial support to build your ideal work setup
The salary range is indicative. The actual gross offered is adjusted to your location and contract type so the package stays fair and competitive wherever you are.
🤝 How to apply 🤝
Please begin your note with the word "coucou" so we know you've read this far.
Then answer the following question:
We hold 15 position-1 keywords in Japan on the App Store. We also have a fix that would recover ~3,000 organic clicks/week that has sat undone for a month because it kept getting deprioritized. If you joined tomorrow and could only start one thing in week one, which would you pick and why? (3-4 sentences.)
