About the role
We’re looking for an Engineering Lead to work together with the management to drive the firm’s technical product roadmap and help create processes within the team. In this role, you would be expected to manage the Brokerage Platform Infrastructure team.

You will be in charge of our architecture, operations, scale, and security across different devices. You will work to make our systems safe, our developers productive, and our deliverables trustworthy. You will look outward as well as inward, aligning our executive team and product strategy with changes in technology, and help us create an innovative culture where we are agents of those changes.

The ideal candidate for this role would be a hands-on and highly technical manager who has worked on scaling infrastructure of fast growing companies in the past.

*Your day-to-day will involve: *

• Deliver high-quality, impactful projects in record time with thoughtful planning
• Driving the multi-year strategy for web and mobile engineering at Helixtap
• Apply technical leadership and expertise to both your team and across engineering
• Facilitate and guide architecture and design discussions, ensuring scale appropriate decisions
• Improve the quality of Helixtap’s products and engineering by refining metrics and establishing processes for improvement
• Coach your direct reports to have a positive impact on the organization and chart a fulfilling career path
• Collaborate with engineers and senior leadership to turn customer needs into a tangible roadmap every quarter
• Work with the recruiting team to hire and retain backend and infrastructure engineers for your team

Some things we consider critical for this role:

• Strategic mindset with a focus on problem-solving
• You’ve built financial, high reliability or security systems
• 7+ of experience as a full-time software engineer
• 2+ years of experience as a people manager/providing technical leadership and direction for software engineering and development
• Sharp technical skills and continuing interest in coding and technical details
• Experience with at least one relational DBMS (ex: Postgres, MySQL)
• Experience with performance monitoring tools (like: Jaeger, DataDog, Grafana, Prometheus)
• Solid technical skills for design and coding
• BS in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a bias toward open, transparent cultural practices

Nice to Haves:

• MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Have previous experience at a fast paced, high growth stage internet/software company
• You’ve scaled web or mobile applications to millions of users
• Finance experience a plus
