Start.ca is currently looking for a talented Learning & Development Developer to join our in-house L&D team. As a Learning & Development Developer at Start.ca, you will support the development and implementation of impactful learning initiatives. What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing high-impact learning activities and ensuring that all content is delivered in an engaging manner for in-person and online learning.
  • Coordinating and assisting with the development of e-learning products and services, including web-based courses, online tests, surveys, job aids, desktop tutors, and performance support tools.
  • Participating in the creation and enhancement of a variety of learning products and programs targeted to all professional levels using instructional design (ID) and learning experience (LX) design principles.
  • Partnering with subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop training materials such as online courses, software simulations, job aids, facilitator or learner guides, audio scripts, and interactive PDFs.
  • Managing multiple learning initiatives at a time.
  • Importing courses and materials into the Learning Management System (LMS) and test form, function and usability.
  • Translating existing classroom-based training modules into engaging, user-friendly digital training with our LMS.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure program usage is high, accurate, relevant, and compliant to standards.
  • Conducting train-the-trainer sessions for SME’s and Training Instructor.
  • Overseeing the implementation of technology changes, including the LMS, technical program changes, and related communication and training initiatives.
  • Developing evaluation processes, including tests for new and existing training programs and certifications.
  • Ensuring best practices and quality standards for designing, developing, delivering, and maintaining training materials.
  • Researching market trends and develop ideas for enhancing and sustaining program structures and content, including implementation of best practices and the development of innovative programs, tools and techniques.
  • Supporting training initiatives in an environment that is 24/7 365 days a year.
  • Other appropriate responsibilities relevant to the role today and the role as it may evolve.

Successful Candidate Has:

  • Degree/Diploma (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in a learning-related field.
  • 3-5 years of previous learning and development experience.
  • Significant experience with e-learning program development.
  • Strong communication with the ability to build trusting relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be effective in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver customized training material based on individual and group needs assessments.
  • Strong adaptability skills coupled with the desire to work in an ever-changing environment.
  • A passion for continual self-improvement and development.
  • Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Out of the box thinking skills and is always looking for unique solutions.
  • Experience using an LMS to support, measure, and track training programs.
  • Sound knowledge of and experience with adult learning methods.
  • Previous experience working in the technology industry and knowledge of telecommunications and contact centre environments is considered an asset.
  • Ability to perform computer work, including typing and other fine motor movements for up to 80% of each shift.
