About the job

TRIAEM is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) program.

The Senior Systems Engineer will provide technical systems engineering, requirements analysis, systems integration, and capability delivery support within a complex Intelligence Community environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with government Mission Owners, Product Owners, software development teams, systems engineers, and other technical stakeholders to coordinate engineering activities, resolve system dependencies, and support the successful integration, testing, deployment, and operation of mission-critical capabilities.

This position requires a strong understanding of systems engineering principles, Agile development methodologies, and the integration of complex information technology systems. Experience supporting NGA, GEOINT, or other Intelligence Community mission systems is highly valuable.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Engineering and Integration

  • Perform systems engineering activities including requirements analysis, technical design coordination, systems integration, and evaluation of complex IT solutions.
  • Coordinate the integration and synchronization of software, hardware, and system capabilities across multiple development teams, contracts, and operational environments.
  • Analyze system requirements, technical specifications, interfaces, dependencies, and integration challenges.
  • Support the modification, enhancement, maintenance, and integration of complex applications and systems.
  • Ensure technical solutions align with applicable architecture standards, system requirements, and operational objectives.
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders, engineering teams, and external organizations to resolve technical issues and support mission capability delivery.

Agile Engineering and Technical Delivery

  • Support systems engineering activities within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment.
  • Coordinate with Product Owners, Feature Support Engineers, Release Train Managers, and development teams to translate technical and mission requirements into actionable development activities.
  • Support Agile Release Train Management (RTM) activities, including sprint planning, Program Increment (PI) planning, feature development, backlog coordination, and dependency management.
  • Use Jira and Confluence to track engineering requirements, technical dependencies, program epics, features, development activities, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate technical reviews, capability demonstrations, engineering meetings, and approval boards.
  • Promote consistent Agile processes, engineering practices, and development schedules across multiple teams.

Systems Deployment and Operational Support

  • Support the integration, testing, deployment, release, and operation of mission systems and technical capabilities.
  • Coordinate technical activities associated with system upgrades, application modifications, and operational deployments.
  • Analyze and track system discrepancies, technical issues, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with engineering and technical support teams to resolve system integration and operational issues.
  • Monitor technical dependencies, deployment schedules, and capability readiness.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, technical status reports, and system integration records.

Mission and Stakeholder Coordination

  • Work with NGA Mission Owners, Product Owners, systems engineers, and development teams to understand operational requirements and technical priorities.
  • Support the integration of capabilities across NGA systems, services, and operational environments.
  • Participate in technical planning, engineering reviews, and coordination activities supporting GEOINT mission requirements.
  • Communicate technical risks, dependencies, integration challenges, and recommended solutions to program leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; or 15 years of relevant experience without a degree.
  • Experience supporting government information technology programs, systems engineering, or related technical environments.
  • Experience performing systems engineering, requirements analysis, technical integration, or systems development activities.
  • Experience integrating development efforts across multiple systems, applications, or technical environments.
  • Experience leading technical tasks involving modifications to complex applications, system specifications, or discrepancy resolution.
  • Experience developing or reviewing detailed application program coding specifications.
  • Experience working with software development teams, technical stakeholders, and government program personnel.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG) Tasking, Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (TPED) mission and supporting systems.
  • Strong technical documentation, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting NGA, GEOINT, Department of Defense, or Intelligence Community programs.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence for requirements tracking, engineering documentation, and development coordination.
  • Familiarity with SAFe, Agile development, Scrum, Program Increment planning, and release train activities.
  • Experience coordinating systems engineering activities across multiple development teams or contractors.
  • Experience with software integration, system architecture, technical interfaces, and deployment planning.
  • Experience supporting capability demonstrations, technical reviews, and government approval processes.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle processes, configuration management, risk management, and operational readiness.
  • Familiarity with application development, DevSecOps, or complex enterprise IT environments.
