We're a fully distributed team. This role is open to applicants anywhere in the world, working within U.S. Eastern Time hours.
The Role
As a QA Engineering Intern, you'll join our QA team and help ensure the quality and reliability of platforms used by thousands of people every day. Working alongside experienced QA engineers and developers, you'll learn how quality is built into a real-world healthcare software product, from testing new features to catching bugs before they reach users.
This is a part-time contractor role: 20 hours per week across a 4-day work week of 5 hours per day. You choose either Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday, with your hours falling within U.S. Eastern Time business hours. It's designed as a 12 to 18 month ramp-up, with the goal of growing into a full-time QA role.
Your Responsibilities
- Executing manual test cases for new features and bug fixes across web and mobile
- Supporting regression testing ahead of releases
- Performing exploratory testing to find issues that scripted tests miss
- Writing clear, reproducible bug reports and verifying fixes
- Using AI tools to generate, expand and maintain test cases, then reviewing and refining them for accuracy and coverage
- Helping write and maintain test cases and test documentation
- Learning and contributing to automated tests under the guidance of senior team members
- Testing APIs using industry-standard API testing tools
What We're Looking For
Required
- Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a degree, bootcamp, or certificate program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent self-taught experience)
- Basic understanding of how web applications work
- A strong eye for detail and genuine curiosity about how things break
- Clear written communication, especially for describing problems precisely
- An AI-native way of working: you already use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor) day to day and are comfortable using them to write test cases, analyze bugs and speed up your work
- Eagerness to learn and take feedback
Nice to Have
- Some exposure to software testing, through coursework, personal projects, or prior internships
- Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or another scripting language
- Exposure to test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, TestRigor)
- Experience with API testing tools
- Familiarity with Git, Jira, or agile workflows
- Interest in healthcare technology
Soft Skills
- Organized and reliable when working independently
- Comfortable asking questions in a remote team
- Proactive about sharing what you find
What You'll Get
- Monthly stipend of $600 to $800, paid in USD, based on experience
- 4-day work week (20 hours/week, 5 hours per day), choosing either Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday, within U.S. Eastern Time
- 10 days of paid time off
- A structured 12 to 18 month ramp-up toward a full-time QA role
- Hands-on experience testing a production healthcare SaaS platform
- Mentorship from experienced QA engineers and developers
