As a Product Systems Engineer, you will help shape the architecture of our product offering. This role sits at the boundary between architecture and implementation and brings coherence across hardware, software, and the systems that connect them. You will work with senior engineers to define the structure of our ongoing product developments, contribute to architecture decisions, help define interfaces and requirements at the product level, and own the customer-facing interface so they remain coherent, reusable, and product-relevant.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Contribute to defining the general architecture of our offering across our products
- Requirement allocation across hardware, software, embedded systems, in-house components, and external components
- Help define and evolve the core processing chain as a coherent part of the offering
- Support the design of software tools and interfaces as the main entry point for customers
- Help clarify the interaction model between embedded software, application software, customer software, third-party software
- Help document and maintain requirements, interfaces, and architectural boundaries
- Participate in architecture discussions and help align product intent, system architecture, and implementation realities across teams
- Ownership of product EIDP, ICDs, architecture notes, trade studies, and related technical documentation
- Help ensure solutions are reusable, scalable, and understandable
- Participate in architecture reviews and support technical decision-making
- Take a product from early requirement definition, through development, to a production line and customer support
Minimum Qualifications
- Solid systems engineering background in technical products spanning software, electrical and mechanical
- Some experience working across architecture definition, requirements structuring, and engineering implementation
- Manage products through their entire lifecycle from conception to delivery
- Ability to help structure complex systems into clear capabilities, interfaces, requirements, and responsibilities
- Good understanding of software-heavy systems, including abstraction layers, distributed devices, APIs, and integration patterns
- Ability to collaborate on cross-functional technical work across teams without relying on direct authority
- Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to help turn technical ambiguity into a clear framework for decisions and execution
- Good engineering judgment on the right level of rigor, abstraction, and specification for a growing organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with complex embedded or distributed systems including field-deployed tooling
- Customer-facing technical platforms
- Exposure to embedded programming
- Exposure to designing for integration by customer-owned or third-party software
- Exposure to architecture trade studies, requirement allocation, or system-level interface management
- Experience in cross-team or cross-site engineering collaboration
- Familiarity with flight software architectural patterns and spacecraft operations
- Familiarity with Internet Protocol and basic networking
