Role Summary
QCore is looking for a senior Cryptography Expert to lead cryptographic engineering and develop in-house expertise in modern cryptographic protocols, post-quantum cryptography and secure key management. The candidate will work on integrating cryptographic capabilities into QCore's security products and ensuring that implementations are robust, testable and aligned with established standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, evaluate and implement cryptographic protocols and security mechanisms for QCore products.
• Work with established cryptographic libraries and frameworks, evaluating their suitability for production use.
• Lead integration and evaluation of post-quantum cryptographic algorithms, particularly ML-KEM and ML-DSA.
• Develop expertise in TLS, key establishment, digital signatures, certificate management, key lifecycle and cryptographic agility.
• Define secure interfaces for integrating QRNG-generated randomness into cryptographic applications.
• Evaluate entropy requirements, randomness interfaces and the appropriate use of random-number sources in cryptographic systems.
• Conduct cryptographic design reviews, implementation reviews and security-oriented testing.
• Develop test vectors, validation procedures and technical documentation for cryptographic components.
• Work with software, FPGA and systems engineers to translate cryptographic requirements into implementable designs.
• Mentor junior engineers and mathematics interns, building long-term in-house cryptographic capability.
Essential Skills
• Strong understanding of cryptographic primitives, protocols and security assumptions.
• Practical experience implementing cryptographic systems using established libraries.
• Knowledge of TLS, PKI, key management, authentication and digital signatures.
• Understanding of post-quantum cryptography and current standardised algorithms.
• Proficiency in at least one relevant programming language, preferably C/C++ or Python.
• Ability to analyse security trade-offs and communicate technical findings clearly.
Desirable Skills
• Research or implementation experience in PQC, entropy sources or cryptographic random-number generation.
• Familiarity with NIST cryptographic standards and validation processes.
• Experience with security reviews, protocol analysis or cryptographic test frameworks.
• Publications or a PhD in a relevant area, particularly for research-intensive responsibilities.
Expected Outcomes in the First 90 Days
• Establish a cryptographic engineering roadmap for relevant QCore products.
• Review the current cryptographic architecture, dependencies and implementation gaps.
• Define a practical integration and validation plan for PQC and QRNG interfaces.
• Establish coding, testing, review and documentation practices for cryptographic components.
• Create a structured learning and mentoring plan for junior team members.
