Fulltime / contract
The Manufacturing Diagnostics Engineer is responsible for defining, developing, and validating diagnostic requirements and solutions that improve manufacturing quality, product reliability, production yield, and operational efficiency.
A key responsibility is translating manufacturing needs, product failure scenarios, and stakeholder inputs into clear, measurable, and verifiable engineering requirements for diagnostic systems and End-of-Line (EOL) testing processes. The role requires a strong understanding of EOL test strategies, test coverage, acceptance criteria, fault detection and isolation, and production test data analysis.
The engineer will collaborate with Manufacturing, Test, Quality, Systems, Design, and Reliability Engineering teams to define diagnostic capabilities, develop and maintain technical specifications, investigate product and process failures, and drive corrective actions that improve manufacturing performance.
Key Responsibilities
● Define, document, and maintain clear, complete, consistent, and verifiable functional and technical requirements for manufacturing diagnostics and End-of-Line (EOL) testing systems.
● Translate product specifications, stakeholder needs, manufacturing challenges, and failure modes into diagnostic requirements, EOL test sequences, and measurable acceptance criteria.
● Collaborate with Test & Diagnostics Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering teams to define test coverage, fault detection and isolation capabilities, test performance, and system interfaces.
● Establish objective verification methods and acceptance criteria to ensure diagnostic and EOL test requirements are met.
● Develop and maintain engineering specifications, EOL test requirements, diagnostic procedures, troubleshooting guides, and requirements traceability documentation.
● Support test development, equipment qualification, validation, production deployment, and change management.
● Review requirements and technical documentation to identify gaps, ambiguities, conflicts, and dependencies, ensuring alignment with product specifications, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
● Manage requirements changes and assess their impact on diagnostic functionality, test coverage, manufacturing processes, and product quality.
Qualifications
● Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
● Experience: 10+ years of experience in diagnostic integration within the automotive or autonomous vehicle industry.
Required Skills
● Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of vehicle architecture, including communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and diagnostic standards (UDS, ISO 14229, OBD-II, SAE J1979).
● Software Proficiency: Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software platforms, data acquisition systems, and programming/scripting languages (Python is preferred, C/C++ is a plus).
● Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and complex problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to troubleshooting.
● Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
● Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of diagnostics and documentation.
● Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment and manage competing priorities.
