About the job

About PolarGrid

PolarGrid is an early-stage Canadian company that runs managed AI inference. Customers bring their own models, and we run them as fast, reliable production endpoints. We are a small team of about five engineers.

The role

You will be PolarGrid's first product manager. You will own the customer journey, from first evaluation to running in production, and work directly with our CTO, who sets product direction.

This is a hands-on role on a small team. You will spend much of your time with customers, both the engineers who deploy and run their models and the people who approve security and spend. You will turn what you learn into plans the team can build from, and do the research, analysis and writing yourself.

Our customers are ML and infrastructure engineers. They expect a product that does what the docs say, and they will tell you when it doesn't.

The work

You will shape how customers evaluate PolarGrid, get started, run their models in production and understand what they pay for. The hard part is choosing. A small team can build only a few things well, early customers give thin evidence, and the engineer using the product and the person paying for it often want different things. You bring the evidence and the recommendation: what to build, what to leave out, and when something is ready to ship.

What you bring

• You have owned a product for technical users, from the first customer conversations through launch and adoption.

• You are technical enough to work as a peer to engineers: you can read an API reference, follow a design discussion and spot a plan that doesn't hold together.

• You talk to customers often and turn what you hear into decisions.

• You make clear calls on scope and priority, and explain them in writing.

• You check whether what shipped worked, and change course when it didn't.

• You can explain the product to the person paying for it as well as to the engineer using it.

• You write clearly.

• You use AI tools well and check their work.

You do not need ML or GPU experience, but you should be keen to learn how models run in production. What matters is that you have built products technical people rely on, and that you want to do it again from the start: working directly with customers, and shaping the product alongside the CTO as the team grows.
