About the job

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer with strong hardware design experience using Altium Designer. This hybrid position requires candidates to be located near Chaska, MN, with regular on-site availability for hands-on engineering, hardware bring-up, and functional testing.

The role involves digital and analog circuit design, high-speed PCB layout, and supporting the development and maintenance of functional test systems. You will work closely with firmware and software engineers to troubleshoot issues, validate designs, and support products from prototype through production.

We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, works well with others, takes ownership of their responsibilities, and has a proven ability to get things done.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Design & PCB Layout

  • Design digital and analog circuits from concept through production
  • Perform schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout using Altium Designer
  • Execute high-speed PCB layout (controlled impedance, differential pairs, length matching, stackup definition)
  • Participate in design reviews and support DFM/DFT considerations
  • Lead hardware bring-up, debugging, and validation using standard lab instrumentation

Test Development & Validation

  • Assist with the design and construction of bed-of-nails and custom functional test fixtures
  • Work with existing Python-based functional test scripts to execute tests, troubleshoot issues, and make modifications as needed
  • Perform functional testing, analyze results, and document findings
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve existing test systems
  • Investigate hardware failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with firmware and software engineers to validate features and performance
  • Support prototype builds and production ramp activities
  • Develop clear and organized technical documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 3+ years of hardware design experience
  • Strong proficiency in Altium Designer (schematic capture and PCB layout)
  • Experience with digital and analog circuit design
  • Experience with high-speed PCB layout techniques
  • Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up, debugging, and validation
  • Familiarity with functional test systems and automated testing
  • Basic knowledge of Python or experience working with Python-based test scripts
  • Must be located near Chaska, MN, and available for hybrid onsite work

Senior-level candidates with deeper experience in high-speed design or test system architecture are encouraged to apply.

📍 Chaska, MN (Hybrid – Onsite Required)
