About the job

The Financial Analyst plays a key role in Byng's financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and analysis. You will turn data from across our projects and operations into clear, actionable insights that guide day-to-day decisions and long-term strategy. Location and schedule: This is a full-time, in-person role based at our Vaughan, Ontario office, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

What You'll Do

Planning, budgeting and forecasting

  • Support the preparation of the annual operating budget in partnership with the finance team and department leaders.
  • Build and maintain rolling forecasts and scenario analyses that project revenue, costs, margins and cash flow.
  • Develop and manage complex, multi-source financial models in Excel and Power BI, using Power Query to integrate data from NetSuite and operational systems.

Performance analysis and reporting

  • Prepare the monthly management reporting package, with clear budget-to-actual and forecast variance commentary for senior leadership, the executive team and the Board of Directors.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) on financial health, project profitability and strategic progress.
  • Analyze results by project, property, region and business line to identify trends, risks and opportunities for efficiency and cost savings.
  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards that give leaders and project managers self-serve access to accurate, timely data.

Strategic and business partnering

  • Partner with project managers, operations and accounting to understand the drivers behind the numbers and improve data quality.
  • Develop and evaluate business cases for strategic initiatives, capital investments and new markets, including ROI and payback analysis.
  • Monitor industry trends, market conditions and competitor activity in multifamily construction and renovation to inform strategy.
  • Continuously improve financial processes, reporting automation and data structures to make planning faster and more reliable.

What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience as a financial analyst, financial data analyst or in a similar FP&A role.
  • Hands-on experience with budgeting and forecasting and building complex, multi-source financial models.
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and the three financial statements.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including scenario modeling and large-dataset analysis.
  • Advanced Power BI skills, including DAX and Power Query (M) for data modeling, transformation and cleaning.
  • Solid ERP experience, with working knowledge of NetSuite for financial and operational data.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple datasets across projects and reporting periods with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to project managers, accountants, executives and the Board.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines and take ownership of deliverables.

Nice to have

  • Experience in construction, ideally multifamily residential renovation or project-based businesses.
  • Familiarity with job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and project profitability analysis.
  • Experience with multi-entity or cross-border (Canada/US) reporting and foreign exchange considerations.
  • Progress toward or completion of a CPA, CFA or similar designation.
