Founding Engineer

Every company has applications it fundamentally cannot secure. They buy Okta or Entra and can only secure a portion of their team's accounts - often leaving out the most critical ones: banking portals, privileged service accounts, social media. Aglide means they can finally secure all of them.

What we do
Aglide combines an on-device browser agent and a browser extension to autonomously run tasks inside our customers' work applications - from automating user sign-in (giving security teams visibility and policy enforcement) to lifecycle admin tasks like creating or removing users. Non-technical users configure these workflows for any application, making setup self-service.

Where we're at
Over $3.5M raised (YC S23) with several years of runway. Customers range from decacorn fintechs to public insurance companies, with mission-critical workflows running every day for thousands of users. We're a team of five across London and San Francisco, led by two founders who both still build and sell the product.

The role
One engineer owns a problem end to end - meeting the customer, diagnosing the issue, designing the fix, shipping it to production. Sometimes inside a week. Almost nobody is deploying browser-using agents at scale, so a fair amount of the job is inventing the playbook. You'd work on:

• Browser automation engine - make it hold up on messier sites and more complex tasks
• On-device browser environment - reliable and secure on someone's laptop
• Workflow builder - faster automation building for people who don't write code
• Distributed tasks system - async tasks like adding users or rotating passwords on end-user devices
• Platform controls and analytics - more customer control and visibility
• End-to-end encrypted infrastructure - strengthen and scale it

How we build
Full ownership with no approval chains, regular customer contact, work across the stack (dashboard, desktop app, backend services, IaC), and problem-to-production in days. That pace occasionally means long nights and weekends - and we'll push you to take your unlimited PTO.

What we're looking for
1+ years shipping production software real users depend on, strong debugging and systems thinking, and wanting both customer contact and ownership. Nice to have: TypeScript, Postgres, Electron, browser extensions, Puppeteer/Selenium, zero-trust and E2E encryption, Okta/1Password/Entra ID/JAMF.

What we offer
$150k-$180k plus meaningful equity, 75% of medical/dental/vision premiums covered, 401(k), learning budget, unlimited PTO, the option to travel between SF and London offices, and frequent socials plus an annual international offsite. Our office is in North Waterfront, SF - we prefer to go in most days, with flexibility when it's needed.

How we hire
Two founder intros, a technical interview, a paid in-person trial day (or weekend if you're employed), then an offer. If we interview you and don't go ahead, you'll hear within 24 hours. You'll need existing US work authorisation - we can't sponsor visas.
