About the job
This position requires an ACTIVE DoD security clearance. Applicants who do not currently hold an active clearance will not be considered.
At PMAT, we work on mission-critical systems that support government and defense organizations by designing, building, and securing modern digital capabilities across hardware, cloud, data, and software environments. Our teams tackle complex engineering challenges where delivery matters more than theory, and innovation is driven by curiosity, collaboration, and purpose.
About the role: We are seeking a Senior Hardware & Production Engineer to support the development, integration, and production of advanced computing platforms, including hardware associated with the Minotaur program.
This role bridges hardware engineering and production, ensuring that ruggedized computing systems are designed, built, tested, and manufactured to meet demanding performance, reliability, and environmental requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the transition of hardware from development into next-generation, small-form-factor production
- Ensure compliance with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), and Design for Reliability (DFR) principles for ruggedized computing systems
- Support the design and integration of high-performance computing hardware, including CPU/GPU systems, storage, networking, and peripheral interfaces
- Develop production processes, test procedures, and acceptance criteria for computing systems
- Troubleshoot hardware and system-level issues across laboratory, production, and deployment environments
- Perform root cause corrective action (RCCA) on failures identified during testing or production
- Support environmental qualification, including thermal, vibration, shock, and electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC) testing
- Manage configuration control, technical data packages (TDPs), and engineering change orders (ECOs)
- Collaborate with software, network, and systems engineering teams to ensure hardware compatibility and performance
- Coordinate with technical stakeholders to support production quality, integration, and deployment readiness
About Us: PMAT is an innovative small business founded with a passion for developing forward-leaning solutions from exceptional people that advance mission capabilities. We focus on designing and building impactful digital solutions using modern cloud, data, software, and computing technologies. Our work includes complex engineering challenges such as computing platforms, software modernization, distributed data systems, and heterogeneous data analysis.
We recruit, retain, and foster a team motivated to pursue passions, investigate new ways of doing things, and embody an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. We believe in being curious about every element of a problem and experiment relentlessly. We foster continuous learning in an environment that encourages positive collaboration and expands our capabilities. We tap into collective intelligence, acknowledging that the most brilliant people may not be in the room. Above all else, we believe that delivering and demonstrating is more potent than a sheet of paper. We are passionate about mission-focused design and delivering effective, reliable technology.
Whether you’re an experienced engineer or just beginning your career, you’ll work alongside experts who are committed to solving challenging engineering problems. If you’re passionate about applying your skills to build and improve advanced computing systems, apply today.
